Our Alton correspondent writes: \ pleasant little function took place in the local hall on Friday, 14th inst., when toe teachers and pupils of the Sunday school, together with many of the parents, met to bid farewell to Miss A. Kidge, who is leaving the district. Miss Ridge has acted as teacher in the Sunday school during the past three' years, and has, by her kindly nature, endeared herself to all, and the children and parents alike felt they could not let her depart without some token to express their appreciation and goodwill. Several songs and recitations were given during the afternoon, and later the Rev. Mr Watson referred to the many good qualities of the guest, and also Ito her good work in the Sunday school, and asked her, on behalf of the teachers and children, to accept a small present as a token of the esteem in which she. was held. Master Edgar Allen then presented Miss Ridge with a beautiful zylonite brush, comb and mirror, and manicure set. All joined heartily in .singing, "For she's a jolly good fellow," and then a dainty afternoon tea was handed round.
