MEAT FAMINE IN SYDNEY.
EY .?A*ETiB PEESS ASSOCIATION—COFI EIGHT
(Aus.-N.Z. Cable As*.) SYDNEY, June 14. Sydney is- now faced by a meat famine. Inquiries have been made for supplies of mutton from New Zealand, but an obstacle in the way is the import duty of 3d per pound, which puts the article out of reach, unless the Federal Government can be persuaded *f"o suspend the duty. No difficulty is anticipated in 'securing suspension. As a result of the rains the Railway Department is rushed with applications for the return of starving stock te their ordinary pastures.
