WASHINGTON, May 13
- Senator Thomas (Democrat), in a 'speech, declared that the Democratic i*artiy would face defeat and dissolu-tion-if it adopted President Wilson's stand for .the ratification of the Treaty unchanged. \•
Senator Hitchcock ridiculed the Republicans' attempt to secure the adoption of Senator Knox's peace resolution, and said, the Republicans were working against a wall since they knew that resolution would be immediately vetoed.

President Wilson, for the first time since his illness, 'received foreign representatives, namely, the Belgian Ambassador and the Uruguayan Ministeiv He will shortly give audience to seven other diplomatic representatives, * including Sir A. Geddes, in order of their arrival.
