"When Tom Griffiths, mail * coach, driver, was driving from Whangarei yesterday morning with members of the Lyric Concert, Company aboard, he drove into a big flood at Taylors Flat, at Tangiteroria. Two horses were drowned and one member of the company had a narrow escape, the waggonette" being under water with the concert company's gear. Two lady members had a terrible experience, and are now in bed. The whole company is staying at settlers' houses at Taylors Flat and1 a doctor has been sent for.
