ELTHAM v. INGLEWOOD.

(From our Eltham Correspondent.)

Eltham seniors met Inglewood at Taumata Park yesterday afternoon, the first senior match of the season played on the local ground. A willing game resulted in a victory for the home team by 13 points (three tries, two converted) to 3(a penalty goal). Followers of the game say that on*yesterday's showing Eltham seniors will give a good account of themselves in future matches. Their scrum is, perhaps not so strong as last year, but their backs will hold their own against all-comers. In any event it is too early in the day to pass an opinion on the forwards, and critics are agreed that the team will settle down after a match or two into a strong combination. Yesterday's game was controlled by Mr D. George, of Waitara.

The other Eltharn team (thirds), three men short, visited Stratford, where they met the High School boys. The game ended Stratford 19, Eltham nil.
