INQUEST
i An inquest touching the death of William Quee, signwriter, of Hawera, who was found dead in bed yesterday morning at his residence in* Princes street, was held this morning before Mr W. K. Wallace, J.P., actingcoroner, and a jury of four. Dr W. M. Thomson, who conducted the post mortem, said there were no marks of external injury. A greater part of the right, lung was in a state of pneumonia, with some pleurisy. There had beenprevious inflammation in. that side. There was fluid surrounding the heart, a,nd these conditions were sufficient to cause death. The cause of death was heart failure, brought on by pneumonia. ' Albert Read, bootmaker, Hawera, said the deceased occupied a room on his premises. On the 11th February ho complained of ill health, and witness advised him to see a doctor. From that date witness asked him daily as to his health, and asked if there was any "***""*" pain, but each time he replied "No." Witness did not see deceased after 6 p.m. on the 24th inst., but the following morning early heard him coughing, and called out and asked if he was all right, and he said "Yes." About 7 a.m. witness again called out to him and got no answer, and on going to his room found him dead. Henry Nuttall, police constable, gare formal evidence. A verdict was -returned in accordance with the medical testimony. '
