GERMAN PROPAGANDA
POWERFUL AGENCY FORMED. The ' 'Reichsverband deutscher Industrieller" (National Association of Industry), in conjunction with the "Verein deutscher Ingenieure" (Society of German Engineers), is preparing an advertising campaign on a vast scale in foreign countries in the interest of German export (says a Berlin correspondent). Under the management of the "Ala" (Allgemeino Anziegen Gesellschaft m.b.H.), the notorious propaganda centre of German war industry, foreign countries are to be flooded with German periodicals. An engineering export paper, issued in four languages, viz., German, English, French, and i Spanish, will shortly make its first apjpearance. Engineering concerns are subscribing heavily to this enterprise in the shape of'advertising contracts and prepaid^ subscriptions for a large foreign circulation during a period of five years. Individual firms, like Krupp's, -•none have contracted to pay the fees for over 3000 free copies to be sent out regular]y during that period. Further, a combine or trust of the German industrial press is in the course of foi--mation with a view to making concerted efforts in the same direction The "Ala" intends to establish offices in all foreign capitals to act as distributing centres and news gatherers for the "Uher.seedicnst" (oversea service), a large German agency for commercial news affiliated to the "Ala."' and as advertising agencies. In the latter capacity it is hoped to get some influence in the foreign press and trado periodicals.
