To'koara, yesterday, a Koll of Honor, with bae .names of those who had fallen durug the war, or had been on active serrice, was unveiled by the iiev Grant -Vwen. The HqL of Honor was in the iesign of a shield, and the lettering lad been very neatly done, free of :aarge, by Mr A. Sehneebeli. Across •he top were the words:. "Lest We forget.'» Mr Cowen said he felt it. a great >nvilege to unveil th,e memorial and toll of Honor, and it was most fitting ;hat the first act in..the new school■oom should be. in connection with the »rave men who had gone away, and »ome of whom had died for their coun;ry. It was most fitting that the first )ftieial ceremony in the .room should be n commemoration of the noh»e acts of ihose _ who had sacrificed their youth md lives. Had it not been for these nen, who hazarded all, they would not « enjoying prosperity to-day. In the iiture they might forget their great lebt to these men, but the Roll of Honor would keep it in, remembrance. Jome of those whose names were on the oil would not return again, but their nemories would be kept green by the oemorial, and the children glancing up rom their work at school woud see ;he names of those who gave all that ithers might live. Surely 'this would >c an incentive to noble action. It was itting that ia the school there should le a tangible reminder of what had men done. They should all try and nake themselves more worthy of what ad been done for them. Mr Cowen oncluded by again saying that he fe't b a great privilege to unveil the.memoral, especially as it would be his last fficial act before leaving Taranaki, rhich had nobly done its part.
