ITALY ACCEPTS FIUME SETTLEMENT.

It is semi-ofncially stated that it is ■understood Italy is willing to accept the Fiume compromise under which, the town goes to Italy, while the League of Nations leases the free ports of Fiume, together with Porto Baross, for ninetynine years; also the ■control of the railways. The solution awaits Washington's approval. PARIS, August 26. The Supreme Council's telegram expressing surprise that Roumania had mob given definite pledgee of a changed attitude towards Austria-Hungary is interpreted in the gravest sense. The Allies will not be satisfied if Roumanian depredations in Hungary cease only for lack of jnatei-ials. LONDON, August 27. Sir J. Swanwick Bradbury (joint permanent Secretary to the Treasury) 'has been appointed as the principal British representative on the Repatriation Committee at Paris.
