PARIS, Aug. 26. Quien. examined, stated that he gave the French military attache at The Hague information concerning powder factories. He begged to be allowed to return to France, but the attache kept> him, declaring that he needed his services. Quien further alleged that he received money for various missions, and was able to travel without papers. [Quien was in prison at jSt. Quentin for swindling when the German^ arrived in 1914. and he was speedily on good terms with the Huns, who called hini "double-metre" (that is. 6ft 6in) on account of his great height. They employed him to assist in unearthing the "underground" organisation which Prince and Princess de Croy had set up for getting stray Allied soldiers over the Dutch frontier. At Brussels, he stayed at Miss Cavell's house, and then, with others, was got away to The Hague. Instead of returning to France he went back to Brussels, denounced Miss Cavell and others, and sent most of the band of devoted patriots to prison or execution.
