MATAPU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Present indications point to a general "speeding up" in construction work on this line. Between 40 and 50 men have recently arrived, the maj jority of whom are camped on the Manaia branch route, which no doubt will be the first objective. The plain and fancy dress dance to he held to-morrow (Tuesday) will be the most successful function held here. The liberal prizes that are to be given should appeal to the wearers of fancy dresses in the various classes to Be judged. All arrangements being in the hands of Mr H. Whitaker assures . a good time for all.
