PRISONERS SENTENCED

NAPIER, Aug. 25. At the Supreme Court, Wiremu Houotapu, on five charges of forgery and uttering, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. Karaha Kerei, on similar charges, was convicted, and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Wm. Kerr Crombie, solicitor's clerk, was ordered to come up for sentence for thefts amounting to £159 4s. Katherine Yates Noblett, who was charged with making a false declaration with regard to the birth of a child, was ordered to be detained till the rising of the Court. Vincent Edward Cairie; and Arthur William Witt, for theft of a ' motor car, were ordered two years' ! and one year's reformative treatment respectively.
