PRESIDENT TAKES THE OATH

Squadrons of police aviators are being formed in Berlin, the main object being to prevent smuggling capital trom Germany. (Reuter.) _ BERLIN, Aug. 22. There was much ceremony when President Ebert took the oath in the National Assembly at Weimar. Great crowds participated. .-> President Ebert, in a speech, emphasised the need of labor in the empire's service in order to rebuild the Fatherland, whose new vital principle would be freedom and right. The Assembly has formed a new Foreign Committee, of which Herr Scheidemann is president, the Centralist, Herr Spahn, being vice-presi-dent. (United Service.) LONDON, Aug. 21. It is reported from Copenhagen that the Germans have assembled 80,000 troops to quell the insurrection in Upper Silesia.
