PEACE BALL
A grand ball for the celebration of peace was held in the local hall on Eriday, July 25, and proved to be a huge success, both socially and financially, a large number of visitors being present from all parts of the district. _The hall . was very prettily decorated with flags and greenery, 'and the floor being in excellent order, about 50 couples danced to perfect music supplied by Smith's orchestra, -of Hawera. A dainty supper was provided, the tables being nicely decorated with red, white and blue.
ST. JOHN'S LADIES' GUILD
A very enjoyable dance in aid of the -above was held on Friday evening, and resulted in a substantial sum being added to the funds. First-class music was provided by Miss McCarty, of Auroa.
