AUCKLAND AND THE AMENDEDRULES.

WELLINGTON, Aug. <L At a meeting of Jhe Management Committee of the N.Z. Rugby Union to-night, Mr T. H. Jones, who recently returned from Auckland, said noattended a meeting of the Auckland Union s executive, and had been givenr to understand that only five of the amended rules had been played pending a decision of the council. It was decided to send a telegram to Auckland asking how many amended rules were played on Saturday feat, and to hold a special meeting to consider the reply. The New South Wales Union wrote that it was prepared to fa'l in with the suggestion to hold a conference and discuss an International Board of Control. It- was decided to reply suggesting a conference of delegates representing Queensland, New South "Wales, and New Zealand, to be held about themiddle of October.

REFEREES' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the North Taranaki Referees' Association ' was held last night, when a lengthy discussion took place over various grievances against the Taranaki Rugby Union. It was decided not to make any further appointments until after a conference had been held between the Referees' Association and the Taranaki Rugby Union. Mr McLeod, chairman of the Management Committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union, later attended the meeting and stated that he would endeavor to arrange a conference on Thursday at Stratford. It was then decided to make the appointments for this week. —News.
