NEW YORK, ,ttuly 32. 'The .'seamen's strike, iv^hich- threatened rto tie up the Atlantic seaboard shipping, now offers a /hope •of speedy •settlement". The strike leaders have agreed to confer with the United fStattes Shipping Board wifh a •view to arbitration on the demands. Several independent steamship comrpanies'have made a private settlement.
