HAWERA GUN CLUB
[ . . ANNUAL. MEETING. The adjourned annual meeting-of the Hawera Gun Club was held in Mr C. E. Howard's office on Saturday evening;. There ,'was an excellent attend■an;ce, arid .the president (Mr i; C. Good,'spn) occupied the chair. Over thirty Persons signified their willingness to become members. The chairman said that owing to the ■war the activities of the club were abandoned during the past four years. lne members, true sportsmen, considered it would be wise not to hold any matches during the war. Now that j TO, r was over members had to consider the advisablenes s of the ciub continuing, and it was his opinion that the club should not be wound up Good support had been promised, and with (the assistance of enthusiastic officers and an energetic committee, there was no reason why they should not have a strong club. Lt. TM f^ng of the meeting was that , tne club should continue, and a motion ,to this effect was proposed by Mr J Goodwin. This was seconded by Mr Pawson and carried unanimously I ,f he Section of officers resulted as follows: President,, Mr C. Goodson (reelected) ; vice-presidents, Messrs J Russell, C. Kncebone (reflected) A Burrell and B. ('. Bennett; commit! tee, Messrs Riley, Goodwin A'Court, Seaver, Lumberg, O'Brien, Hollard, Pawson, Gunderson, Haycock G Hutchison, K. Hutchison; secretary, Mr B. Weaver; treasurer, Mr C. Goodson; auditor, Mr Wil««n. i The president promised a trophy for competition, and Air Russell also said he would give a medal valued at two gumeae as a points prize in a shoot to be named by him, while Mr W. H. -Pawson gave «. donation of 30s. These were accepted ainidsSt applause. I Votes of comlol(-Tice were passed to the relatives of the late Mr M. J. Goodson, Mr W. Duffill, and Mr J Mc- ! The meeting was most enthusiastic, which augur* well for its success. At a subsequent rneetin- of the committee it was decided to hold a £25 clay bird match m, Friday of Show week and a sub-oommittee consisting of Messrs Goodson.
