MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT.
CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. A strange affair occurred on Saturday night. A ' two-seater motor car driven along a street adjacent to the business section of the city knocked down ajnan named William'Pickering, aged 75. The driver of the car disappeared before he was identified, and the car was later taken by an unknown person to a near-by garage. The car had been left by the owner outside King Edward barracks, and it is supposed it was stolen by the person who was driving when the accidentoccurred. Pickering was taken to the hospital, and the matter is in the hands of the police.
