BEEKEEPERS' CONFERENCE.

WELLINGTON, June 12. To-day's session of the Beekeepers' Conference opened with a lecture by Mr A. B. Trythall, officer in charge of the State apiary a% Ruakura, on bee-keepi-ng for beginners.

It was reported that the SolicitorGeneral had been interviewed as to the legal aspect of the question of apiary boundaries, and had) said there was nothing to prevent the association going ahead to obtain the necessary legislation defining boundaries and regulations governing same. It was stated that Dr Reakes, Director of Agriculture, was favorably impressed with the scheme.

A committee was appointed to frame the necessary Bill. After discussion on the use of petrol tins for the export of honey, it was decided to appoint a deputation to wait on Prof. Kirk, chief of the Horticultural Department, to discuss the question. It was stated that the use of these tins was only required for another year, when it was expected that sufficient new tins would be available It was decided to ask that four additional inspectors be appointed. A motion urging the Government to establish a State institution for training purposes in the South Island was carried.

It was decided to recommend the National Executive to hold a conference in Lhristchurch next year.
