TEACHING OF AGRICULTURE

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT DESIRES IMPROVEMENT.

The Education Department wishes, if possible, to improve the teaching of agriculture in primary and secondary schools, and for that purpose a conference will be called of teachers and representatives from the Agricultural Department. A large number of papers will be read and committees appointed to digest them. These papers generally agree that teachers at present are not prepared for giving instructions in agriculture, and, in fact, that the word was a misnomer and some other should be used.
