The annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union begat}, at midnight, the earlier part of the •'evening jjeing taken up discussing the rules. Officers were elepted" as follows: Patron, the * Governor-General; president, Mr F, 'X\ Evans (Christchurcn;; management committee: Dr Crawford, a.nd Messrs B. A. MorriVi, C. A. Mstiueson, E. 0. Hales, G. W. SJa.de,■"&, Akersj appeal council; Jfonra F, CowlisJtew A w* G : Garrarcl, fir. 11. Mason;. auditor, Mr Pember; representative on the English Rugby Union, Mr Wray Palliser; kou. treasurer, Mr T. H^Jones. ■ It was' decided that for the coming year the appeal committee should be elected by the management committee and located in Dunedin, and that the appeal council should sit in Christchurch for the; next three years. It was unanimously'resolved that the Ranfurly Shield regulations be amend•ed as follows: That regulation No. 3 be deleted, and the following substituted: (3) All special ; challenge matches shall be played on the ground of the holder of the shield for the time being, but any affiliated union meeting the holSer of the shield in the ordinary course of inter-union matches, whether on the holder's ground or not, may give notice to the N.Z.R.F.U., and to the holder, not less than fourteen oTays before the day appointed for the match, declaring such match to be a Ranfurly Shield challenge match.
To encourage school football it was decided to recommend the management committee to make a grant of £200 to the Public Schools Union.
