REFEREES' ASSOCIATION

(From Our Okaiawa Correspondent.) A meeting of the southern referees was held at Okaiawa on Monday evening, when there was a fair attendance. Mr A. Lees was elected chairman, and also secretary pro tern • executive, the chairman and Messrs Foy and Neilson. The subscription was fixed at 2s 6d. It was resolved that the union be asked to notify clubs to have all grounds properly marked out; that a letter of appreciation be forwarded to the family of Sergt. Grant, a member of the association who had gained the V . _-. A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the members who had fallen in the war. A hearty vote of thanks was also passed t-o the press for the excellent reports of the football matches and support of the game generally. The following appointments were made for the two first fixtures: May 31—Seniors: Kaponga v. Okaiawa, at Okaiawa, Mr Neilson; Opunake v. Hawera, at Hawera, Mr McKay. Juniors: Opunake v, Waimate, at Manaia, Mr Cleaver; Okaiawa v. Kaponga, at Kaponga, Mr Christie. Thirds*: Waimate v. Kaponga, at Kaponga, Mr Voullaire; Hawera Tech. v. Normanby, a<t Hawera, Mr Foy. June 7—Seniors: Waimate v. Okaiawa, at Manaia, Mr Guy; Hawera v. Kaponga, at Kaponga^ Mr Kiley. Juniors: Opunake v. Kaponga, at Opunake, Mr Brennan; Hawera v. Okaiawa, at Hawera, Mr A'Court. Thirds: Hawera Tech. v. Waimate, at Mana'a, Mr Meuli; Kaponga v. Nor-' manby, at Normanby, Mr G. Spratt. It was decided to hold the next meeting at Manaia.
