A DEADLOCK
DOCTORS AND HEALTH DEPARTMENT.
BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION
CHRISTCHURCH, April 8. A deadlock is reported to have occurred between the Medical Association and the Health Department, consequen on the non-payment by the Department of fees due to block doctors during the epidemic in November. A serious aspect of the matter is that the doctors have declined to discuss a future block organisation until the position is clearly defined relating to the past epidemic and future services. The Mayor, as chairman of the Epidemic Committee,- has communicated with the Minister of Internal Affairs, expressing astonishment that the arrangements made by the committee are likely to be nullified by the failure of the Department to pay the doctors' fees, and adding: "The matter requires personal and prompt attention."
