COOD FARM LAND. AND GOOD CROPS. What is said to be one of the finest farm for cropping punjoses in Marlborough was sold recently, th©price_being £83 per acre. This farm is situi ated opposite the Grovetown railway station, Marlborough-, and comprises | about 130 acres. It is exceptionally I rich land, watered by fine, underground natural springs, and has produced some exceptionally heavy crops. For instance, 20 acres of oats produced 109 busheb per acre. A crop of chaff- produced 6i tons per acre; carrots produced 66 tons per acre, and broad beans for ; seed produced 70 bushels per acre. These crops were not all produced in a •single season, but they are nevertheless records that would be hard to excel upon any single farm in New Zealand. The purchasers were F. Cooper Ltd.,1 the well-known wholesale seed growers of Wellington. It is the intention of ! the firm to utilise the. farm entirely for growing and selection of pedigree vegetable and farm seed crops. Owing to the scarcity of supplies, and the great demand for seeds both in Europe and America, it is necessary1 to" increase the local supply. The firm believes in securing th© best in land in just the same way as-they are'deter-1 mined to have the best in seeds. ' 'Coopers are the largest growers and handlers of seeds in the. Southern Hemisphere, with, head office-at Wellington, and branches- at Blenheim, Christchurch, London . and £Tew York. They gay, and rightly, too, it iaL.iihfe' duty of Svery man afld evwf woman to be doing something really useful in the present crisis, and to be doing that something useful to thej utmost of their capacity: Make up ; your mind to grow an. ample supply of vegetable and root crops this year, both for human con-' sumption -and your stock.
