LOCAL OPERATIONS SUCCESSFULLY CONTINUED. BRITISH POSITIONS IMPROVED. (Received Sept. 27, 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 26. SSr Douglas Haig reports successfully continued local operations on the afternoon and night north-westward of St. Quentin. English troops progressed and captured certain strongly-defended localities in the neighborhood of Selency and Gricourt and a number of prisoners. Besides counter-attacks launched by lihe enemy north-west of- Fayet he ■also twice unsuccessfully attacked ue north-west of (Jricourt.
