GOOD PROGRESS BY FRENCH.
' LONDON, Sept. 28. Mr Gibbe writes: The French made good progress at Epine de Dallon, south-east otf St. Quentin, but were held- up for some time at ihe Manchester Hill redoubt. This recalls that the German offensive of March 21 began with the capture of these two points, when the 16th Battalion (the Manchester©) defended Manchester Hill to the last man.—Aub.-N.Z.
