Mrs McMicken, of Claudelands, aged' •89, and Mr W. K. Carter, of Cambridge, aged 95, both old residents of the Waikato, died this week. I The following message, received by cable, has been communicated to the New Zealand press for circulation: — London, August 1. An illuminated address was presented to Mr Massey by the Victoria, Working Men's Club in London on Wednesday at a large and enthusiastic gathering. The address reads: 'The committee and members desiro to express their recognition and keen appreciation of the many valuable and distinguished services rendered to the British Empire during the great European War by the Right Honorable Mr Massey. Prime Minister of New Zealand. It is our earnest and sincere hope that he will be spared for many years to continue to render the Empire his advice, counsel, and retain the highest esteem and respect in which he is regarded hy his fellow-countrymen of all classes."
