PETROL PERMITS.

SYSTEM WORKING SMOOTHLY

WELLINGTON, Aug. 1. The Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, Minister in Charge of the Board of Trade, states that the new system of selling petrol under permit is working smoothly. There was a little difficulty until users became used to the regulations, but now they understand them things are working well. Private users are getting reasonable supplies, and as far as can be gauged there is an adequate amount of motor spirit available for all purposes.
