THE WIMMERA ENQUIRY.

FURTHER EVIDENCE

(BY TELEGRa^H PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 1. At the Wimmera enquiry to-day, Wilson, second officer, recalled, said that from conversations he ha,d with the captain and other officers he believed they were of the opinion that the mines were laid between the Three Kings and Cape Maria. The course the Wimmera took would take them outside that locality. He knew the captain thought he was on a safe course on the previous trip, when mine-sweepers were sighted The Collector of Customs deposed to an interview with Captain Kells the day before he sailed, and to a conversation -with reference to the Admiralty instructions. Captain Kells said he did not require a copy of the amended instructions, which did not refer to his vessel.

Witness contradicted the statement of the .second officer that there was no examination of the cargo. All the cargo was examined.
