CONTINUATION OP CASES?

The following further cases were heard to-day: John Pratt, farmer, Inglewood, applied for leave to enable him to 'complete his ploughing and the getting in of his crops. ' Leave was granted until the October draft.

John Thomas Reardon, farmer, Mahoe, for whom Mr Etherington appeared, appealed on the ground of public interest. Appellant was milking 36 cows on a leasehold farm of 100 acres He had a boy of 16 assisting him He had three brothers on active service in Egypt, while another brother had been discharged from camp. He desired to keep the farm going for his brothers, and if any of them were to return, witness would be willing to go into camp.. The farm would not run_a sharemilker'. The case was adjourned until the next sitting, in order that further evidence might be obtained.

Alfred William Smith master tailor, Hawera, represented by Mr Powell, appealed on the ground of public interest and undue hardship. Appellant was carrying on the business in Hawera, in partnership with Mr B. Lawn, who was managing a branch shop in Greymouth. Mr Lawn, and also the firm's cutter, had been called up, and were both appealing. The case was adjourned until the next sitting, to see th e result of the other appeals, -which were being held at Greymouth.

Mrs Kendrick. Tariki, Stratford (Mr Ihompson) applied for leave of her son. Private A. S. H. Kendrick, who is at present in camp. The Board is to make „ recommendation to the Camp Commandant for leave.

Thomas Ernest Taylor, farmer, Miro, ' Inglewood, represented by Mr O'Dea, appealed on the ground of public interest. Decision was '.-eserved. Upon resuming after the luncheon adjournment, the Board Q its merved decision in tlie following cases.—G. Brock, Waitotara, adjourned until r ext (Sitting; W. C. Williams, Lowgarth, Stratford, decision reserved sine die; T. E. Taylor, Miro, Inglewood, adjourned until the next sitting; G. A. Williams, Meremere, decision reserved feme die.

Robert McMullian, farmer and stock dealer, Stratford, represented by Mr Stanford, appealed on the ground of public interest. Appellant stated that he was farming in partnership with his brother, who had been turned down. He attended to the buying and selling in conneteion with the farm. He w'as asking for time until the November draft to enable him to dispose of some stock he had on hand.

Leave was granted' untd the November draft.

*, The adjourned appeal of James Riddell Robertson, farmer, Hawera for whom Mr Etherington appeared,' was further reviewed. Appellant said he had not been able to secure a manager tor the place, but a neighbor was willing to look after the farm if he (appellant) sold his breeding ewes. If he disposed of the breeding ewes it would mean a reduction in production. Former sine die decision of Februarv last adhered to.

The Board adjourned at 3.10 p.m until 10 a.m. to-morrow morning.
