LONDON, July 30. The Hague correspondent of the Daily Express states that German newsI papers are painfully endeavoring to convince the public that everything is going well. They have taken" the line that the object of the offensiA-e Avas not to gain ground, but to destroy the enemy forces. When this Avas impossible the attack was stopped in order to spare troops, Avhile the enemy allowed the sacrifice of troops without result. Newspapers refer to the ungrateful attacks upon Hindenburg, ivhereas Ludendorff is not criticised. Apparently headquarter^ is divided into two parties.—Reuter. A story that is Aviclely believed in Holland is that Generals von Hindenburg and von Ludendorfß have had a 6plit. The former, not believing in the offensive, AvithdreAV to the background and left the management solely in Ludendorff's hands. Many of the German papers are attacking Hindenburg.
