FARMERS' UNION.. A meeting of the local branch- o£ the Farmers' Union was held on. Eriday evening last, Mr J. Malone in th©,. chair. There were about fifteen pre-j sent. There was little Business, to be J done. It was resolved to write to the" inspector of stock in Hawera, asking,' him to come and give an address on cattle complaints. At the conclusion of the ordinary meeting Mr G. H. Buckeridge delivered a very interesting lecture on "Cooperation in New Zealand;, what has been done and what has yet to. bedone." At the conclusion of. his address Mr Buckeridge was granted, a'*hearty vote of thanks, which was carried by acclamation. HALL COMMITTEE. A -meeting of the Hall Committeewas held on Wednesday evening last. Present: Messrs Moller, Low' W. Franks, Rothe, Symes and. Voullaire. In the absence of Mr O'Neill, the chairman of the committee, Mr Low. wasvoted to the chair. Several matters were dealt with. The matter of continuing fortnightly euchre parties was .discussed, and it was resolved, to. oeasethese and to run fortnightly dances instead. It was resolved to hold another meeting early next month,, when, important ma Iters are to.be dealt with. GENERAL NOTES.. The factory is Jo recommence running on Tuesday, and will run every second day for the present. There is. very little milk so far, compared, with, other seasons, and considering the -weather Aye have had it is just as well than the cows are not so early as usual. Last week snow fell' here during. Monday morning, but only about oneinch thereof. On the Upper Mangawhero road, however, where some had. already fallen on the Saturday night, the fall was heavy, several inches being recorded, and this, lay on; the> ground nearly the whole of last week. Since the snow we have had. much better weather and several, hard. frosts,. which should do a great deal, of good.
