SOLDIERS' COMFORTS GUILD

The secretary of the Eltham Soldiers' Comforts Guild received recently a letter from Lance-Corp. A. C. Sumuer, or' the Samoa garrison, which read as follows: "As a token of my sincere thanks" for past- presents received from your guild, 1 should esteem it a favor if you would kindly accept the eiiclosed cameo of Mt Egmont, worked entirely by a soldier stationed here. 1 thought that if mounted it might benefit any fund, which you think fit. Trusting you will aonr-eciate the effort of a, Samoan soldier."

The cameo mentioned is in every way a work of art, and lias b^en cut out of pearl. It shows a correct view of Mt. Egmont. and must have taken an infinite amount of time and patience to work. The canieo is on view in, Mr H. G. Carman's window, and will be disposed of and proceeds used for Christmas comforts. LATE PRIVATE BUNN. Some time ago a letter was pul> lished in these columns from Private E. Bunn, who had been transferred to Switzerland after undergoing hardship as a prisoner of war in Germany. The s?.d news has now been received!, per cable, of Private Bunn's death, which has com© somewhat as a surprise, as from the cheerful letters received here it was understood that Private Bunn was recovering his health. His death, will be generally regretted by a large circle of friends her**.
