CORRESPONDENCE.

TURUTURU MOKAI ANNIVERSARY (To the Editor.) '" Sir, —Will you kindly allow me a little space in your valuable paper to acknowledge, on behalf of the North Taranaki veterans, the kind invitation given to them by the Mayor and citizens of Hawera, and to sincerely thank them for their kindness and treatment to us old veterans in a reunion to,celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the battle of Turuturu Mokai and in taking us out to see ,the historical spot ? I must say, and many others have said it, that it was a ccrand sight to see all of the school children drawn up to welcome the veterans, especially the two who were in the battle. It will be something for them to remember as long as they live. As the time was short and the speakers many, I was unable to express our thanks on the stage, but trust it will be acceptable this way. As our president was unable to come with us, I was in command.— I am, etc., G. A. ADLAM. Oakura, July 16.
