OPERA HOUSE
■The Kid from Timaru," a picturisea P°enij attracted a .good attendance at the Opera House last night. The pic- ! ture starts with some capital views of limaru, and then proceeds to give , representations of the fine fellows New Zealand has sent to fight for the Empire. The Gallipoli landing, with its heavy toll of lives, brought vividly to mind that great undertaking The picture^was shown to the accompaniment ot the recitation of the verses by Mr Marschel, supp&s^nted by the singing of the patriotic* song, "There's Only One Way Home, Boys—it's Through Berlin," by Mr Will Hutchens. The supporting programme was an excellent one, the whole of which will be repeated to-night.
THE WORLD'S, TO-NIGHT
MME. PETROVA
The powerful dramatic and emotional star. Madame Olga Petrova, is seen to singular advantage in the five-act Metro wonder-play of vital force and intensity, "The Secret of E,ve," a play that will appeal to every woman especially. The central idea of the story is the splendid portrayal of the spirit ot self-sacrifice that exists in every woman "The Secret of Eve" show's an institution for blind children, depicting faithfully the methods used in teaching: and amusing them.
