NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOR.

A copy of the annual statement of accounts of the New Plymouth Harbor Board has reached us, and we are glad to say that the finances are in a satisfactory condition, and the trade of the port shows some advance. The revenue in trespect of General Account has increased from £11,505 in 1916 to £13,019 !in 1917, and the Working Account shows a net profit of £8793 as against £7548, so that, while the revenue has increased materially, -the ecsfc of working has advanced but slightly. The land revenue also increased from £7652 to £8677. This is the highest amount for the past sixteen years, and probably represents the Board's gain from the conversion of leaseholds 'into freehold. The year was memorable from the fact that ocean! liners for the carriage of frozen produce first visited the wharf. There! were six of these vessels, and their j aggregate tonnage was 45,749 tons. They took away 81,688 freight carcases ! or 2183 tons. The total exports were ' 17,130 tons, as against 16,211 tons in the. previous year. Butter and cheese fell off from 12,732 tons to 10,440 tons. Imports showed an increase of about 4500 tons. Of the loan there is £8864 left, all of which is on fixed deposit with the bankers, and the sinking fund now amounts to £28,887. j
