Mr Brennan has given notice to move in the Federal House a motion that conscription applied to Ireland by any authority external to the Irish nation would be subversive of the settled principles of democracy and inconsistent with the just claims of the Allies on behalf of other small nations. Mr Hughes, referring to the censorship, said that a great deal of trouble has arisen not because of the'regulations, but because of the way they were carried out. He proposed to create a tribunal consisting of a representative each of Labor and the Government, with a chairman. If tneyj did not agree a judge would be appointed to deal with all hard cases oi censorship. A lively debate followed, and the House adjourned. The War Loan exceeds forty-two millions. , „ During the debate in the House on Mr Tudor's censor motion, Mr Hughes said no one would believe the statement made against Mr Tudor in the Nash bankruptcy case. HeJumselt would not believe it if fifty thousand swore it. He challenged Nash's statement as ridiculous and absurd.. He did not believe there was enough money m the world to buy Mr Tudor.
