An Italian official report summarises the action northwards of Gorizia from August 19 as follows: The Second Army threw fourteen bridge* across the Isonzo, crossed and attacked the Bainsizza plateau, directing themselves in the direction of Oelinita. [We broke three lines, eventually capturing Monte Santo. We are now advancing on the eastern border of Bainsizza, pursuing the enemy. Our captures total 600 officers, 23,000 men, 75 guns, and much booty. WASHINGTON, Aug. 27.
