•NEW DIFFICULTIES THREATENED
KERENSKY AND KORNILOFF AL-
LEGEDLY AT ISSUE.
LONDON, Aug. 24. Wireless Russian official: The Roumanians attacked northward of Grozestchi and north-east of Soveia. The enemy occupied a portion of a trench in the direction of Buzeu. A counter-attack . ejected the enemy. PETROGRAD, Aug. 25. New difficulties threaten Russia. The railwaymen of two important railroads threaten to strike as a protest against the Government. '• At present there is some doubt whet ther the strike will eventuate, because the railwaymen's congress at Moscow favors concerted action by all railwaymen. Meanwhile possibly th© danger will bo averted by the militarisation of the railways in deference to General Korniloff's demands. j | It is reported that M. Kerensky opI poses General Korniloff's demand for j the right to inflict the death penalty I behind the front. It is believed a compromise will be reached.
. T,ie extreme Socialists apparently fear th.c results of the Moscow congress [ for tiiey have begun a campaign against General Korniloff. It is not expected that the Moscow conference will-take any vote The President will close the proceedings if a conflict arises. Maximilists and Soooal Democrats are boycotting the conference. General Alexieff, addressing the moderates at the preliminary conference, blamed the Government for the military collapse. ' The conference decided that the speech should be printed and distribut!ed throughout Russia. M. Savinkoff, acting-Minister of War has reagned owing to military and political difficulties with M. Kerensky. It is stated that General Korniloff shares the views of M. Savinkoff
