DAIRY COMPANY MEETING

The annual meeting of the Opunake Dairy Company was held on Tuesday, and was presided over by Mr Morto Hickey, chairman of directors. The annual report stated' that 8 084,----8381bs. of milk Hadl been received during the year, producing 359.2461b5. of commercial butter, giving a result of lib. of butter to 22.51b5. of milk. The average test was 3.71, and the overrun 19.78. The average payment for butter-fat was 15d, and; the balancesheet sowed a surplus of £5424 8s 6d to be dealt with. The report and balance-sheet were adopted on the motion of the chairman and Mr L. ■Luckin. It was agreed to pay § ocr cent, on subscribed capital, and to write off £750 for depreciation. After the butter on hand had been disposed of, the available balance will be paid out r>ro rata on last year's working. Th© following directors were elected for the ensuing year—Messrs. J. A. Lusk (representing Kina Road). John De Castro (representing Inaha Road) and M. Hickey, L. Luckin, E. G. Baylis. B. A. Hammond, and W. Wan. Mr H. J. Newman was re-elected auditor. It was resolved to add an additional £10 to the chairman's honorarium, and to nay a bonus of £10 to the manager,, and £5 to each member of the staff. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring directors, Messrs F. Carter and D. D. o'Sullivan suitably respondin jr. Mr R. J. Campbell, on© of last year's directors, is now in camp. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr Morto Hickey was unanimously reelected chairman. Mr Browne, director of agricultural instruction, New Plymouth, addressed the meeting, soliciting support towards the payment of agricultural instruction to farmers. Some members expressed th© opinion that as the classes were conducted in the evenings, farmers could not attend, and had not derived the benefit they might have done. Mr Browne pointed out' that it was proposed to hold field classes, and give instruction on the farm. It was* agreed to support the movement, and the first meeting will be held on Mr E. G. Baylis' farm on Tuesday, September 4. Mr G. H. Buckeridge" addressed the meeting on the principle of companies adhering to the policy of oonsigniag nroduce, and received a hearty vote of thanks. , WEDDING. A very pretty wedding took t>lace in he Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, the contracting parties being Mr Robert Kirkpatrick, Dunedin. and Miss Isabel Allsworth Stitt, second daughter of Mrs R. Stitt, Opunake. The church had been niceily decorated, and the bride looked charming in silk taffeta, bodies and sleeves of ninon, trimmed with true overs' knots. She wore a veil of Limerick lnoe, and carried the customary shower bouquet. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ella Stitt. who wore a pale pink silk dress, exquisitely smocked and finished with touches of heliotrope. The bride was given away b^ Mr H. A. Nicholls, while Mr R. Allsworth officiated as best Mtn. ?he ceremony was performed br Rev. T. Tait of Manaia." The happy counle left for Rotorua and Auckland, where the honeymoon will be spent.
