DEPUTATION TO THE PRIME
MINISTER.
Representatives of the dairy factories left for Wellington on Wednesday morning to interview the Prime Minister on various matters affecting; the rarming industry. The butter-fat levy, shipping space and farm labor will be amongst the questions dealt with. Messrs Marx (Mangatoki), Farquhar (Awatuna), Morrison (Ngaere), and Death (Kaponga) were amongst, the delegates. BELGIAN RELIEF. Mrs H. J. Barnard, who has takeii; a constant interest in this work, Jias received a letter advising that a new committee in London has been registered under the War Charities Act, named Clothing of Belgian Destitute Civilians." The hon. secretary., in "Writing to Mrs Barnard; says that. the need is greater than ever. He adds: "It has become necessary, iit order to save the Belgian children, to send them in batches for a few weeks to Holland to recover from their privations. Some schools in Belgium: are closed because the cluTclreir. are too weak to attend. Quiteipcently three hundred of. them arrived at The Hague without boots to their feet. The Belgian representative Is appealing for help. Will you send spare garments, and also, if possible, material for making up. Nogift is too small. We also want clothing for the mothers, many of whon* have been- widowed in the war."
