The conference of the Victorian Political Labor Council adopted a proposal for a referendum j£or *ne abolition of State Parliaments and the division of the Commonwealth into twenty provinces, each province governed by a council of not less than twelve or more than twenty-five members. The report of the medical inspection branch of the Education Department for the year shows that sixty out of every hundred children examined required treatment for physical defects. Murray Hobbs with Kilboy, Killem, Godday, Kilflinn, Fotheringay and Beltane, H. Taylor with Bee. and C. Jones with Sasanof, Sweet Corn and Shrill, and two others have arrived. BRISBANE, July 10. Parliament has re-assembled. The Governor, in hie speech, stated that a BUI would be introduced authorising the establishment of iron and steel works and the industries connected therewith. • Queensland had also agreed to establish the shipbuilding industry.

SYDNEY, July 10. A Royal Commission has been appointed to enquire into the administration of the public service. The wholesale. merchants have increased the price of whisky by 4s a dozen bottles, which has been passed on to the consumers.
Women in various centres are holding demonstrations in favor of compulsory service. Peace advocates interrupted a Brisbane meeting, which terminated in a free fight.
