AUCKLAND, July 9 A crowded meeting at the "Town I ff«» oy a huge majority affirmed that in order to ensure an eaHy and ' successful issue of the war it has be-| come a national necessity to secure the maximum of efficiency in military, I commercial, industrial and social ai-1 fairs, and also to reduce unnecessary expenditure to a minimum, and decided to request the Government to reduce the time during which alcohol may be sold to between 8 o'clock a m and 0 o'clock p.m." A deputation was set up to interview Cabinet at Wellington in furtherance of the matter.
