OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT.

"THE GIRL PHILIPPA."

"The Girl Philippa" is to be shown at the Opera House this evening, and is a good dramatisation oi the novel by Robert Chambers. It is remarkable, ' too, for "battle scenes on the Western front that are the most realistic re- j presentation yet shown in drama. The ; hand-to-hand fighting in the village is : also good. There are exciting conflicts I between German spies and two members of the British secret service, one of whom is killed. The other, Halkett, ; chums up with an American artist. As the girl Philippa, cashier of the C-aie Biribi, Anita Stewart gives avery good characterisation; but, perhaps, the outstanding figure in the cast is Anders Randolf as Wildresse, who is a German spy. The scenes in France are particularly picturesque, _ and are strongly reminiscent of the illustrations in the novel. The film throughout is a highly artistic production. The vitagraph producer has availed himself of the rich romantic opportunities :n this case. No fewer than eight reels havn been devoted to the subject. Seats may be reserved at tie theatre. Box plan now open. Only one performance can be given.
