THE WORLD'S.

A capital programme was shown at the World's last evening, and was thoroughly appreciated by all present. The chief feature was the Metro drama "The Weakness of Strength," a remarkably fine production full of emotional and stirring incidents. Edmund Breeze, one of the best known film actors, takes the leading character, and gives a striking and clever performance of a really difficult part. The drama is a story of love, ambition and regeneration, and takes a strong hold on the attention of the spectators throughout. The supporting pictures were all distinctly good, and comprised a scenic, showing interesting views in Mexico, a first rate Topical Gazette, and a diverting comedy—'"The Schemers," which fairly brought down the house. The programme will be repeated tio-night.

OPERA HOUSE

The new programme which was presented alt the Opera House last night was ono of more than ordinary merit, containing as it did two star pictures. The first was a Triangle product-ion, "Thf* Matrimaniac," in which Douglas Fairbanks, the well-known film artist, takes the leading patit. Fairbanks is seen in this picture in all his wonderful j athletic vigor and cleverness. The second big attraction was Billie E-'vke in the furtfher instalment of the cl.lightful serial story "Gloria's Romai;-je," in which thi9 charming actress has r.rnds herself so popular. The supportum, films were all excellent, and included, v beautiful French sc*oic showing somo, of the early-day architecture that the Germans take such, a delight in destroying. A splendid" series of views of the Waimangu eruption gave a vivid idea of the disturbances. The Pajfche Gazette dealt with some interesting subjects, one set showing New Zealand soldiers at drill at Trentham. "The Bombardnietat ot DixmurJe by the Germans" was also instructive. There" was likewise a "Mr Jaok" comedy. The programme, which was thoroughly enjoyed, will b e repeated to-nigh|t.

"BROKEN CHAINS," MONDAY

A complete change of programme will be made on Monday evening at the Opera House, when the' features will include th.c American drama, "Broken Chains." Two well-known film favorites, Miss Ethel Clayton (of "The Hidden Scar" fame) and Cr Carlylo Blackwell havg the leading parts in the cast, and makft the mosjt of a plot that is full of stirring action and dramatic intensity, flavored with a pretty love interest. "John Bull's Sketch Book," and two really rollicking laughable comedies will be included in the programme.
