INCIDENT AT COMPLIMENTARY LUNCHEON. PLATES FOUND TO BE OF GERMAN MANUFACTURE. SMASH IN CROCKERY FOLLOWS. (Times.) (Received May 26, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON; May 25. Whilst speaking at Sir E. Carson's luncheon at the Savoy, Lord Beresford held up a plate displaying the manufacturer's name "Bauschen. Made m Weiden," exclaiming disgusterdly: "Here's a nrettv state of affairs; we are actually"dining off German plates. ' The majority of the guests smashed their ulates on the floor, and Lord Beresford added: "I could not have enjoyed my luncheon if I had known these were German plates. Empire Associations must see this does not occur again."
