BY. CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHI. (Received May 26, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, May 25. At the wool sales 18,272 bales of New Zealand were offered. The average price was about 20d. The offering comprised 650 bales of merino, 6060 bales of fine crossbred, 10,000 bales of medium, and 1320 bales of coarse. About half was withdrawn, as it consisted of top-making sorts, unsuitable for the woollen trade. There will probably be another similar distribution shortly. The butter market is fiat. Danish, 202s to 2045. There is little enquiry for colonial, and the reduction in demand is attributed to the largely reduced consumption of bread, and al»» plentiful supply of English and Irish, j Nominal quotations are: New Zealand, j 196s to 202«; Australian, 186s to 190s. j The maximum prices of colonial ha^e been lowered 10s. Cheese is scarce, but it is understood that a quantity of New Zealand i and Australian will shortly be released j to retailers. J
