LONDON, May 24. \ An Italian official report states: On the Carso yesterday, after a ten hours' violent bombardment, we assaulted and broke through the enemy's lines from Castagnavizza to fhe sea. While we were h.eavily engaging the enemy on the left, our troops, after carrying enemy trenches in the centre and right, occupied part oftt o area southward of the Castagnavizza-Boscomalo road, passed Boscomalo-Locate, and captured Pamitno and five strongly fortified heights. The sudden onslaught surprised and nonplussed the enemy, who counter-at-tacked in the evening, but were severely repulsed. We took over 9000 prisoners yesterday, including 300 officers. Participating in the battle were 130 of our aeroplanes and seaplanes, all of which returned safely. British batteries largely contributed to the bombardment We repulsed heavy attacks at Gorizia' and captured a strong point on the north-west slopes of San Marco. Wo considerably progressed at Monte Santo and vodice.
