CORRESPONDENCE.

IN EXPLANATION

To, the Editor

Sir,—ln; the general news column of your issue of the 20th inst., I noticed a paragraph under the misnomer of "A Loser by the Practice," re letterbox at Whakamara. Now, sir, in explanation, I would like to state clearly the circumstances, of thts wonderful letter-box." The, mail arrives here between 8.30 and 9' a.m., and as" the correspondence passing through' this office doesn't warrant a permanent official to stand behind the counter to deliver same, for the convenience of the suppliers I put it in the said box, opposite the receiving stasre, so as to save them firom having to return at a later hour,, when I would be at liberty to deliver their correspondence personally to them. Now what has this person lost? If he has lost anything, I invite him to come along and I am agreeable to make good any losses, as far as I am able t*o. Has this person any feasible suggestion to mak.e which would be an improvement on the present system? If "A Loser by the Practice" is a progressive man I advise him to instal a private box, which I deem would be an improvement for such as he. SUB-POSTMASTER, Whakamara. ' August 23, 1916.
