SYDNEY, Oct. 23. The trial has opened of five men who were arrested in connection with the £5 note forgeries. Two of them pleaded guilty, and were remanded for sentence. Four prisoners, two of whom had been convicted in. connection with the note forgeries, attacked a warder in Ta m worth gaol and escaped. One subsequently surrendered, but the others are still at liberty. The warder was taken to hospital, where he is in a critical condition.
